Key Idea 1: Motion
- Be able to calculate speed using v= d/t and use the units for different distances and time. Convert between km/hr and m/s
- Construct distance/time and speed/time graphs and interpret the slope of the line as d/t = v or v/t = a.
- Experience the use of ticker timers and ticker tape to investigate the speed of motion for a ‘downhill trolley,’ ‘uphill trolley,’ or ‘Falling Weight’.
- Understand that acceleration is the idea of change of speed and/or direction
- Determine acceleration from the slope of a v vs time graph.
